Advanced: Use our tutorial workshops to learn programming, and create commercial quality applications with the easy and effective lite-C programming language. Use the included level and model editors to create the artwork for your game.
Professional: Include Gamestudio's A7 engine into your software using the Source Development Kit and your preferred language like C or Delphi. Use Gamestudio's straightforward art pipeline based on the FBX format for creating your levels and models with high-end editors such as MAX or MAYA.











The A7 Engine - Version 7.77The engine is the core of the development system - it determines the rendering of the 2- or 3-dimensional virtual world. Gamestudio's A7 virtual reality engine is one of the fastest and certainly the most flexible engine available today. Its new Adaptive Binary Tree scene manager switches seamlessly from indoor to outdoor sceneries, and can handle more than 60,000 objects per scene with a good frame rate on an average PC. The new light manager overcomes the 8 lights limit of today's 3D hardware and supports an unlimited number of static and dynamic shadow-throwing light sources. Programmers can add new engine function with the included Source Development Kit. The simple and straigthforward API allows painless access to the engine from external development systems and languages auch as C++, C#, or Delphi.
The A7 engine is regularly updated in order to support the newest features of the newest 3D cards. Free A7 updates are released about every six weeks.

Gamestudio/A7 SPECIFICATIONS The Editors Gamestudio comes with level, model and terrain editors so that you can start immediately wihout any hassle with third party editors or format conversion programs. Creating virtual worlds, placing effects, defining movement paths and modeling actor behavior is a logical and straightforward process.

WED - 3D level editor
A game level consists of an environment with fixed and moving parts - landscapes, dungeons, buildings or cities. Within the environment you can place actors, enemies, objects, light sources that throw shadows, sound sources that emit background sounds, or paths that vehicles follow or guards walk along.
You can either create the landscape and buildings yourself, or import artwork created with 3D content editors like Worldcraft?, Milkshape? or gameSpace?, or high-end editors like Maya? or 3D Studio MAX?. All usual 3D file formats (FBX, X, 3DS, ASE, OBJ, MDL, MD2, MAP) are supported. Terrain can be imported through heightmaps from freeware terrain generators like Terragen?.

MED - model editor and importer
For quick results a huge library of over 1000 textures, sky boxes, building parts, furniture, vehicles, weapons and actors is included.
The Game Templates Templates are a cool concept of creating game content without any programming. First select the genre of your game - like an action game, a car game, or just a walkthrough. Gamestudio will create a basic game script for you and open an empty level. With a mouse click, you can add further template scripts from a library, place objects in your level and attach behaviors to them. Scripts and behaviors can be customized with a wide range of parameters. All this without programming a single line of code - it's as close to the famous "Make Game" button as it gets!

Game template manager
The game generated this way is still a normal C script, anytime accessible for modifications. If the included game templates are not enough for you, add your own scripts or download templates from the user magazine or the resource site. As soon as your levels are finished, a button click generates the final game in a CD folder ready for distribution. The File Packer (Pro Edition) compresses all artwork belonging to the game into a tiny encrypted resource.
What's new in A7? Gamestudio/A7 is 100% compatible to it's predecessor, Gamestudio/A6 version 6.60. The A6 templates and the A5 templates still run under A7. The A7 engine renders faster than A6 and contains hundreds of new features, such as an improved script language with direct access to all DirectX functions, a full physics engine in all editions, an ABT scene manager, improved multiplayer functions, improved terrain renderer, radiosity light mapper, atlas mapping, unlimited dynamic lights, decal system, shader viewer and shader library.
